Surgeon John Cosgrove joins ELIH staff

Eastern Long Island Hospital has appointed John Cosgrove as its newest surgeon, hospital officials announced Friday.

Dr. Cosgrove has 30 years of experience and most recently served as chairman of surgery and residency program director for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, officials said. The Harvard graduate received his medical degree from New York Medical College, completed an internship and residency at Beth Israel Medical Center, and served as chief resident in the surgery department, officials said.

ELIH CEO Paul Connor said in a press release that he’s “delighted to welcome” Dr. Cosgrove.

“A surgeon of his caliber is a wonderful addition to the high level of surgical expertise available to the community,” Mr. Connor said.

Dr. Cosgrove will performing a variety of surgical procedures, including: laparoscopic surgeries, hernia repairs, colon resections, and gastric procedures.
