Former Greenport resident Terrence Lawrence died Aug. 31 at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, N.Y. He was 33 years old and had been in treatment at Woodmere (N.Y.) Rehab and Nursing.
He was born Aug. 2, 1980, in Riverhead to Willie Jordan and Mary Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence earned his GED and had been self-employed for two years in the sanitation business.
Family members say he loved music, basketball, dirt-biking, attending cookouts and watching sports.
Predeceased by his parents and his grandparents, Ernestine and Willie Haynes, Mr. Lawrence is survived by his son, TaShawn; his siblings, Keasha King, Vaughn Edwards and Stanley and Jamal Lawrence; four aunts; and one uncle.
The family will receive visitors Friday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. Cremation was private.
Memorial donations may be made to any organization or facility that deals with traumatic brain injury.
A repast will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m. at the home of Keasha King, 430 Second St., Greenport.
