Cops: Two men arrested in Southold for driving while impaired

Two men were arrested for driving while impaired Wednesday, according to Southold Town police.

A Huntington man was arrested for driving haphazardly while on drugs in Southold, police said. Douglas Frinquelli, 41, was stopped on Route 48 just after 9:30 p.m. after officers received a call of a vehicle driving erratically, police said.

Upon further investigation, Mr. Frinquelli was found to be impaired by drugs, police said. He was arrested, transported to headquarters and held for arraignment.

A Southold man was also arrested for driving while intoxicated, according to police.

Spiro Beletsis, 53, was stopped about 6 a.m. for failing to maintain his lane while traveling eastbound on Route 48 and Lipco Lane in Southold, according to police.

Mr. Beletsis was found to be intoxicated and in possession of drugs, police said.

He was charged with misdemeanor DWI and criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said. Mr. Beletsis was arrested and transported to headquarters awaiting arraignment.
