The former owner of Cheesy Charlie’s Pizzeria recently purchased a Southold shopping center on Route 48 for $1.6 million.

Sophie Cartselos said Wednesday she bought the approximately 9,500-square foot Village of Southold plaza last week from Anthony Pirerra, the former president of Aid Auto Stores. Last July Aid Auto Stores, a Shirley-based chain, went out of business and closed all five of its locations, including one on Route 58 in Riverhead.

Cheesy Charlie’s Pizzeria was located for 20 years in the Village of Southold shopping center before Ms. Cartselos sold the pizzeria last year to Joe Pagano of Pagano’s Pizza, which currently occupies the space.

“I thought it was a good time to own real estate,” Ms. Cartselos said. “It’s an excellent investment looking forward and it’s just a beautiful shopping center with excellent tenants.”

In addition to Pagano’s Pizza, the shopping center is home to Showcase Wine and Liquor, Ristorante La Cascada, East End Bagel Café and East Garden Chinese Food. There is one vacant storefront ready to be rented, Ms. Cartselos said.
