The undefeated Porters keep on rolling.

Behind three rushing touchdowns from running back Frankie Sierra and a defense that forced four turnovers, Greenport/Southold/Mattituck improved to 4-0 with a 33-0 home victory over Port Jefferson Friday night.

The Porters turned a tight game into a rout with a huge fourth quarter as Greenport scored 21 points in the final 11 minutes.

Sierra powered the offense with 137 rushing yards on 24 carries. The Porters didn’t get much going through the air, but the ground game carried the way.

Sierra scored from two yards out on Greenport’s first possession to give the Porters a 7-0 lead. A safety on a tackle from Jared Schenone and a 35-yard field goal from John Drinkwater gave the Porters a 12-0 advantage early in the second quarter.

But the offense stalled for several drives into the third quarter until the momentum swung on a curious decision from Port Jefferson. On a fourth-and-four from their own 26-yard line, the Royals elected to go for it. An incomplete pass gave Greenport great field position after both teams had been at a stalemate offensively for nearly two quarters.

Greenport converted the short field into a touchdown when Sierra ran four straight plays, the last from three yards out to make it 19-0. Port Jefferson fumbled the ball on its next possession as defensive tackle Codey Fisher recovered it for Greenport. The Porters added another touchdown seven plays later to make it 26-0.

The Royals fell to 1-3 in Division IV.

Greenport travels to The Stony Brook School next week looking to remain undefeated.
