The Peconic Bay Power Squadron will present a one-day “America’s Boating Course” Saturday at Heron Harbor Suites, Port of Egypt Marine in Southold, at 8:30 a.m.

The course is offered to enable boaters to comply with the Suffolk County boater education law requiring all Suffolk County residents who operate a boat in Suffolk waters after October 2013 to carry evidence that they have completed an approved boating safety course. It will provide essential information for new boaters or a pre-season brush up for experienced boaters.

The eight-hour session will cover boating law, safety equipment, safe-boating practices, navigation, boating emergencies, personal watercraft, charts, GPS, trailering and more. The $70 fee includes a manual, companion CD, a box lunch and, after passing an exam, a safety certificate. Contact Fred Smith at 298-1930 or visit www.pbps.us.
