Albert James Senzatimore

Albert James Senzatimore died suddenly Oct. 23 in Truckee, Calif. He was 69 years old.

A resident of San José, Calif., he was born June 26, 1944, in Brooklyn to Frances (Argento) and James Senzatimore. He and his sister, Vivian, grew up in New Suffolk and later moved to South Jamesport, where family members said they spent many fun summers with cousins and friends.

He graduated from Riverhead High School in 1961 and worked with his uncle as an electrician’s apprentice. A member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Mr. Senzatimore retired at age 59 from Torres Electric, where he had worked as a foreman.

In 1972, Mr. Senzatimore moved to California. Family members said he loved the outdoors and enjoyed skiing, backpacking and rock climbing. He also studied photography, winning awards for his black and white photos. In 1979 he became an aviation student, earned his pilot’s license, and made a lifelong friend, Gary Trovinger, his flight instructor.

During this time, Mr. Senzatimore was also able to pursue his lifelong passion for fishing, including taking trips to Montauk, Mexico and Alaska. He volunteered at the Santa Clara Historical Railroad Society and Niles Canyon Railway, where his knowledge of electrical work and trains was greatly appreciated. He traveled, fished, rode his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and fished some more, according to family, and also enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren and helping his daughter Maria, who has Down Syndrome.

Family members said Mr. Senzatimore made and kept many good friends throughout his life. They also said he was an amazing cook, enjoyed family celebrations, and had a great laugh. He had a zest for life and will be missed, they said.

Mr. Senzatimore is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart, Susan Terry; their three daughters, Maria, Nancy Bracewell and Gina Senzatimore Villarreal; his sister, Vivian; and five grandchildren.
