Vincent J. Bonta

Vincent J. Bonta of Jamesport died Dec. 3, 2013. He was 83 years old

He was born Dec. 3, 1930, to Vincent and Margaret Bonta in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, where he attended public school and Ft. Hamilton High School. During the Korean conflict, he served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged as a sergeant after five years of service.

On June 4, 1955, he married Dorothy H. Condon in Richmond Hill, Queens.

Vincent had been a television director in his early years and later enjoyed a career of over 30 years as an advertising executive with Ted Bates. In 1985, he was recognized as advertising executive of the year.

For the past 20 years, he lived in Jamesport and was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck.

Predeceased by his wife on Jan. 7, 2010, he is survived by his daughter, Ellen Bonta; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Kathy Bonta; and two granddaughters, Michelle Tarnor and Emily Bonta.

The family received friends Dec. 5 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, where parish prayer services were conducted by Deacon Jeff Sykes. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated the morning of Dec. 6 at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church, Monsignor Joseph W. Staudt officiating.

Interment with U.S. Air Force honors was at Calverton National Cemetery.
