Southold blotter: DWI, unlicensed driving arrests this week

A 48-year-old Southold man was cuffed for driving under the influence early Sunday morning, police said.

Just after 2:30 a.m. Southold police stopped Michael Stafford on Route 25 in Cutchogue for making an unsafe lane change, officers said.

During further investigation, police found Mr. Stafford was intoxicated, according to a police report. He was arrested and taken to Southold police headquarters and held for arraignment.

• A Mastic Beach woman was issued multiple traffic violations after being stopped by Southold Town police Sunday night, a police report stated.

Meredith Kormoski, 33, was driving eastbound on Route 25 in Mattituck just after 1 p.m. when officers stopped her for crossing the double yellow line to pass another vehicle, police said.

A further investigation found Ms. Kormoski was driving without a valid license, according to the report.

She was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving left of pavement markings, improper display of a license plate and operating a motor vehicle without financial security, police said.

Ms. Kormoski was arrested and released on $100 cash bail, police stated.

She is due in Southold Town Justice Court on Dec. 23, according to the police report.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
