Cops: Greenport man arrested for threatening principal

A Greenport man was arrested Monday after he verbally threatened the Greenport High School principal, Southold Town police said.

Michael O’Brien, 54, was charged with aggravated harassment, a misdemeanor, after police said he called Greenport High School around 8 a.m. Monday and left a voice mail saying he would “get his hands on” principal Leonard Skuggevik.

“He looked for trouble and he got it,” Mr. O’Brien is reported by police as saying.

During the lengthy phone call, police said, Mr. O’Brien also referred to guns and made “bang bang” sounds.

Following his arrest, Mr. O’Brien was arraigned Tuesday and released on his own recognizance, officials said.
