David I. DeFriest

David I. DeFriest of Southold and Flagler Beach, Fla. died Feb. 6, 2014.  He was 97.

Mr. DeFriest had been a licensed funeral director and was the founder of DeFriest Funeral Home in Southold in 1940 which later grew to include locations in Mattituck and Shelter Island.

The family will receive visitors Monday, Feb. 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dr. Peter J. Kelley officiating. Interment will follow at the Presbyterian Cemetery in Southold.
