Moe’s Southwest Grill could be coming to Route 58

The storefront vacated by Ground Round in the so-called Dunkin’ Donuts shopping center appears to have a new tenant. 

A preliminary site plan application has been filed to put a Moe’s Southwest Grill restaurant in the 3,000 square foot space. .

Moe’s Southwest Grill is an Atlanta-based franchise that was founded in 2000 and now has more than 500 locations. The company describes its restaurants as serving “fresh, made-to-order burritos and southwest fare in a fun and laid-back environment,” and says it’s best known for its “burritos packed with a choice of more than 20 fresh, flavorful ingredients, the menu also features kid’s, vegetarian and low-calorie options, all served with free chips and salsa,” according to company press release.

The proposed Riverhead Moe’s franchise would be owned by Guy Constantopolous, who owns the 7-Eleven at the Roanoke Avenue traffic circle in Riverhead, as well as the 7-Elevens in Hampton Bays and East Quogue, and the Moe’s restaurants in Hampton Bays and Rocky Point.

The application calls for interior and exterior renovations to the existing restaurant site and anticipates the work being done by June. A restaurant is already a permitted under the property’s zoning.
