Girls Basketball: Southold, Mattituck playoff matchups set

The Mattituck girls basketball team will visit Center Moriches Thursday in the opening round of the Class B championship, Section XI announced Monday morning.

Southold/Greenport and Bishop McGann-Mercy will also be in action during the playoffs.

The No. 3 Tuckers (12-6) split two matchups with No. 2 Center Moriches (8-7) during the regular season. The winner advances to the Class B final next Tuesday.

The Clippers (5-12) will battle League VIII champion Pierson/Bridgehampton (12-6) for the Suffolk County Class C championship at Northport High School next Tuesday. the teams split a pair of matchups during the regular season.

Tipoff for the Monarchs’ (10-6) Class B outbracket matchup against Port Jefferson (7-8) is 5 p.m. Tuesday. The winner plays top-ranked Hampton Bays, the League VII champ at 16-2, on Thursday.
