Mercy grad named Buffalo State’s Athlete of Week

Sasa Vann, a former Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School athlete, highlighted four school-record-setting performances by Buffalo State as the Bengals competed against one of the premier fields in the Northeast with competitors from all divisions at the recent Boston University Valentine Invitational.

Vann broke her own school record by nearly two seconds in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.82 seconds, good for 19th out of 168 runners and second among Division III competitors. Vann’s time is the fourth-fastest by a Division III runner this season.

She also ran a leg of the distance medley relay that broke the previous school mark by more than 12 seconds, clocking 12:31.30.

In light of her record-setting meet, Vann was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week.
