Community News: Fundraiser scheduled for JABS in Cutchogue

February ends with a fun event to support a great cause. Tomorrow, Feb. 28, Girl Scout Troop 734 and JABS team up to “Work the Body, Work the Mind.” JABS trainers will present Zumba, strength training and yoga to raise money for Mattituck-Cutchogue School District’s special education department. The event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cutchogue East. Pre-registration is $20, admission is $25 at the door and all students pay $15. Registration forms are available at JABS in Cutchogue or from Diane Benediktsson at Cutchogue East.

St. Patrick’s Day is rapidly approaching so get in the spirit by attending the East End Lions Club’s 60th annual corned beef and cabbage (or scallop) dinner March 13-14 at the Sound View Inn in Greenport from noon to 8 p.m. The cost is $20, plus gratuity. Get your tickets at the door or in advance at Hart’s Hardware, Robert’s Jewelers, Peconic Liquors or by calling Shelly Case (734-6742) or Lydia Ladja (734-5897).

Mark your calendars: Eighth-graders are headed to Washington, D.C., the second week of April. There is a mandatory parent meeting Thursday, March 20, at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria, immediately following eighth-grade Technology Night at 6:30. Parents — and students — should attend to hear all the trip’s details.

The 18th annual PTSA Fashion Show will be held Wednesday, April 2, at Vineyard Caterers in Aquebogue from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Get your ticket to watch the centennial class walk the runway. Tickets are $50 (not including cash bar) and can be purchased March 19 and 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the high school gym foyer.
