Welcome to March! It just seems this year is flying by so quickly. March is known for college basketball madness, St. Patrick’s Day, St. Joseph’s Day and more. Have you ever Googled a month to see what it’s known for? It’s worth the laugh. Who makes this stuff up? Where would we be without Google? According to one of my children, they would never understand my references to the pop culture of my era without Google.

Birthdays are a celebration of you. I received a call from Carol in Spring, Texas, who sends birthday wishes to Donna (White) Dunne on March 8. Kevin Horne turns 50 March 10, Dominick Panetta turns 16 March 13, Kevin Reilly blows out candles March 16 and Andrea Manfredi and Katie Baumann both celebrate on March 18. I hope you have wonderful celebrations.

Belated birthday wishes to Ginny Pickering, who is Collen Clark’s mother. Ginny turned 96 on Feb. 15. It was so wonderful, she celebrated it twice with family, including great-grandchildren.

CAST’s Have a Heart dinner, which was snowed out, has been rescheduled for Friday, March 21, with seatings at 5 and 7 p.m. The dinner will be held at Peconic Landing’s Brecknock Hall and the menu includes Caesar salad, lasagna, garlic bread, coffee and dessert. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Seating is limited; call 477-1717 for reservations.

Kindergarten registration for the 2014-15 school year is gearing up at Southold Elementary School. Children who will turn 5 years old by Dec. 1, 2014, are eligible for kindergarten in September. Parents can pick up a registration packet at the school or contact Marlene Bufkins at 765-5208 for an appointment and further information.

Christopher D’Amico of Southold, a senior at Ithaca College, will go on tour this spring with the college choir, which will perform in five cities in New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York March 12-22. You can see the New York performance Saturday, March 15, at 7 p.m. at the Hunter College High School auditorium.

The Harlem Wizards will take on the Southold Sharks Thursday, March 13. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the game starts at 7. This fundraiser benefits the Southold Athletic Association. Tickets can be purchased at Southold Pharmacy or at the door. Adults admission is $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Students pay $10 in advance or $15 at the door. For information, call Paulette Ofrias at 765-6069.

My next deadline is Sunday, March 16. Send your emails. Call me up. However you get me your information ahead of time is splendid. Plan ahead so you don’t get caught in that every other void.

Have a wonderful two weeks. I look forward to hearing from you.
