Featured Letter: My vote goes to Mattituck

To the editor:

Someone told me way back when that to be a hamlet you had to have a church — or the other way around? Whatever. 

Since Mattituck really is on the North Fork, has more than one church and, most importantly, has the only deepwater “safe harbor” on Long Island Sound east of Port Jefferson, Mattituck gets my biased vote as best in the field of some other great and beautiful hamlets, and should be the only one, as “the best of the best,” left standing — all things considered.

Besides, who else has a Love Lane?
