Southold Town planning 375th birthday celebration

Southold Town will celebrate its 375th birthday in 2015 and the party planning is already getting started. 

The town’s economic development committee will be working with the town historian and the North Fork Promotion Council to develop events for the celebration.

 The Town Board is also considering creating a steering committee for the anniversary festivities. Details of that committee’s responsibilities are expected to be discussed at an upcoming board meeting.

Founded in 1640 , Southold Town has long claimed to be the first English settlement on Long Island , though Southampton Town also makes that claim.
