Southold Blotter: Someone poisoned East Marion woman’s forsythia

An East Marion woman told police she believes someone “intentionally poisoned” her forsythia plants this week.

The 57-year-old woman called police Saturday morning, and showed a police officer branches of the bush, which “had holes drilled in them and were covered in a black substance,” according to a police report.

The woman said she believes she knows who poisoned the plants, but had no evidence of their guilt and didn’t want to press charges.

• Someone stole a white Samsung cell phone from a Mattituck High School student’s bag while she was at school last week, according to a police report. Southold Town police notified the school about the incident.
