Cops: Man caught with heroin at sober home in Laurel

An East Northport man was arrested Wednesday on drug charges after he was found in possession of “several bags” of heroin at a sober home in Laurel, Southold Town police said.

A Suffolk County probation officer contacted Southold Town police shortly before 7 p.m. and “asked for assistance” at the Route 25 sober home, officials said.

Brian Nielsen, 24, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, transported to police headquarters and held for arraignment, police said.

No other information about the incident was immediately available.
