Paintings by Greenport artist Marla Milne will be on view June 6 to Sept. 4 at the Riverhead Town Hall gallery, in an exhibit co-sponsored by East End Arts.

Ms. Milne worked in freelance graphic design, through which she was able to travel and “explore the discipline of design through print, fi lm textiles and computers.” She worked in Brazil, France and New York. In 2006, she took a watercolor class at Floyd Memorial Library in Greenport to prepare for a trip to Bolivia. She paints in watercolor and oil.

She said in a press release that, having sharpened her perceptual skills throughout her graphic design career, “The art of observation, a painter’s greatest tool, is another skill that had been strengthened through the practice of ‘learning’ as I navigated multiple industries, cultures and languages.”
