North Fork Reform Synagogue hosting tour for foodies Sept. 7

The eighth annual Foodie Tour will be presented by North Fork Reform Synagogue Sunday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is a self-guided tour of North Fork locations where guests can meet the “extraordinary people who have dedicated their lives to producing local foods,” according to a press release.

Tickets and maps can be purchased the day of the event at Peconic Land Trust’s Charnews Farm on Youngs Avenue in Southold, where an open house will be held in conjunction with the tour. Guests can learn about growing and cooking with herbs, local aquaculture, organic poultry and crops and more. Chef and author John Ross will present an overview of local culinary topics.

In addition to many old favorites, new tour stops include Long Island Mushroom Farm, Young Widows Farm, Surrey Lane Vineyard Orchard Farm, Greenport Harbor Brewery, Mar-Gene Farm and 8 Hands Family Farm. Guests are invited to take pictures for entry in a photo contest judged by award-winning photographer Judy Ahrens.

Admission is $25 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Tickets are available in advance at northforkreformsynagogue.org; at Gallery M in Greenport, Complement the Chef in Southold, Bookhampton in Mattituck and Barth’s Pharmacy in Riverhead; or by mail at NFRS, P.O. Box 1625, Southold 11971.
