Linda Sylvia Baker

Linda Sylvia Baker of Cutchogue died suddenly at home Sept. 5, 2014. She was 55. 

She was born in Oceanside April 8, 1959, to Louis Alfred and Concettina Norma (née Gigliotti) Sylvia. Raised in Montauk, she was a graduate of East Hampton High School-Class of 1978.

In earlier years, Linda Baker worked for Viking Fleet in Montauk and more recently was a homemaker and artist of pencil drawings depicting nature scenes.

She loved the water and enjoyed boating, traveling, NASCAR (driver Jeff Gordon) and the Pocono Raceway and was fond of cats.

Cooking, which she excelled at, was important to her recalled family members.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband Paul W. Baker whom she married in 1993; two sons, Eric and Paul III; two sisters, Louann Sylvia and Maria Sylvia; a half-sister, Dorothy Schlegel and a half-brother, James Sylvia.  She was predeceased by a brother Louis Sylvia, Jr.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday-Thursday, Sept. 10 and 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. at  DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold.

Memorial donations made to Stony Brook Children’s Hospital at 100 Nichols Road Stony Brook, New York 11794 would be appreciated.
