The Greenport school board is expected to discuss Monday night dedicating the district’s indoor basketball court to Al Edwards.

Mr. Edwards retired as Greenport High School’s basketball coach in May 2013 after 34 years of running the team. He was also named The Suffolk Times Educator of the Year in 2013.

In addition to discussing the dedication, Superintendent David Gamberg and district business administrator Diana Duell are scheduled to give a presentation about Greenport’s financial condition.

Earlier this month, state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office released an audit of the district’s finances between July 1, 2012 and March 31, 2014. The report indicates the district needs to improve its oversight of the budget process.
