Cops: Driver leaving church lot collides with five cars, 2 injured
Two people were taken to the hospital after a 64-year-old woman leaving a church parking lot crashed into a car, then “went out of control” and crashed into four more cars, Southold Town police said.
The 18-year-old driver of one of the vehicles the woman initially hit was given a ticket for driving without a license.
According to a news release, the driver was pulling out about 9:25 a.m. from St. Peters Lutheran Church — which was holding its annual harvest festival Monday after it was rained out Saturday — when she failed to yield the right of way to a vehicle driving on Route 25. The two collided, with the woman smashing into four more vehicles parked nearby, police said.
The woman and the 18-year-old who was ticketed were both taken by Greenport rescue volunteers to Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment.
