Mattituck News: Recent H.S. grad becomes Eagle Scout
Once November arrives, it seems like the days move more rapidly than we can keep up with and the holidays begin to creep up before we know it. What a perfect time of year to schedule dinner with a friend, a walk with a child or a phone call with a long-distance relative. Enjoy the season; the best is yet to come!
Grandparents love to spend time with their grandbabies and Laurie and Norm Reilly are counting on doing lots of that in the future after welcoming their very first grandchild. Congratulations to Kenny and Aimee Reilly on the birth of their beautiful baby boy, Aiden Shea Reilly, born Oct. 12 and weighing in at 8 pounds, 11 ounces. May God shine his blessings on Aiden and his parents today and always.
Ian Husak of Laurel, a member of Greenport Boy Scout Troop 51, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on Oct. 18. Ian is a 2014 Mattituck High School graduate, an AP Scholar with Distinction and an officer in the Southold NJROTC. He’s currently a freshman at Fordham University’s Manhattan campus, where he’s enrolled in a five-year bachelor’s/master’s degree program in global economics with a minor in business administration. He’s also an intern at the New York office of Travtus, a real estate and construction firm headquartered in Singapore.
Birthday babies kicking off November include Tara Gatz, Mary Lou Araneo, Jay Wesnofske, Danny Herrera, Jon Demopoulos, Ethan Helgans, John Stype, Erin Bozsnyak, Dan Ross, Gary Spath, Courtney, Penny, Ryan Wesnofske, Toni Martinez and Dimitri Papadopoulos.
Toasting their years of marriage are Maureen and Nick Deegan and Billy and Jackie Wislberg. Of course, a special anniversary wish goes out to my Mr. Wonderful as we celebrate 29 years together on Nov. 10. Love you!
You probably know by now that Paul Connor and Tony Mitaratondo spent nine days in Tanzania climbing to the 19,341-foot summit of Mt. Kilamanjaro. While they gave their blood, sweat and tears to triumph over this mountain, Carol Mitaratondo and Connie Connor accepted a challenges of their own: to get some much-deserved rest and relaxation in St. John, Virgin Islands. Two very smart ladies!
The Mattituck Junior High Players will perform “Forgiven: A Fairy Tale,” Thursday and Friday, Nov. 20 and 21, at 7 p.m. in the MHS auditorium. This family-friendly production brings many well-known characters to life. Admission is $7; $5 for senior citizens and students — or you can simply donate a non-perishable food item to the Student Council’s annual food drive. Support our young thespians as they give it their all on stage!
