Cops: Bay Shore man arrested on warrant in Laurel

Southold Town police arrested a Bay Shore man with an active warrant early Thursday morning after a traffic stop in Laurel, police said. 

John C. Scalzi, 49, was found to have an active warrant out of Suffolk County First District Court, police said. He was stopped on Route 25 at 2:03 a.m. for a traffic violation, police said.

Mr. Scalzi was originally arrested May 8 and charged with misdemeanor petit larceny, according to online court documents. He pled guilty Sept. 3 and was sentenced to 60 days imprisonment, according to court documents.

Southold police transported Mr. Scalzi to the Suffolk County Police Department’s Seventh Precinct.
