Lillian A. White

Lifelong Greenport resident Lillian A. White died Dec. 18. She was 88. 

Ms. White was born Dec. 1, 1926, in Greenport to Yolanda (Martocchia) and Henry Santacroce. She graduated from Greenport High School and obtained a registered nursing degree from Brooklyn Hospital School of Nursing. Ms. White worked as a registered nurse at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport.

She married Robert “Bob” White July 15, 1948, at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport.

Ms. White was a member of the Greenport Tree Committee and was the person responsible for Greenport earning “Tree City USA” designation. She was past president of the Burton Potter American Legion Post 185 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Stirling Historical Society and the Railroad Museum of Long Island. Family members said she was an avid piano player.

She is survived by her husband, Robert White Sr. of Greenport; her sons, Robert White Jr. of Hayes, Va., and David White of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; her daughter, Marilyn White Corwin of Greenport; her brothers, Henry Santacroce of Southold and Jack Santacroce of Port Saint Lucie, Fla.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family received visitors Dec. 21 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A funeral Mass was held Dec. 22 at St. Agnes R.C. Church. Cremation was private.
