Southold News: Bagels with the Bunny set for March 21

For you locals who know my car, if you see me and I don’t wave, please don’t take it personally. I am busy watching out for potholes!  Seriously, there are some tire-swallowing ones out there. I do not envy the highway department employees. Be careful!

Birthday celebrations: Dominick Panetta and Andrea Pickerell on March 13; Martha Hansen, Sonomi Obinata and Kevin Reilly on March 17; Andrea Manfredi and Katie Baumann on the 18th; Judy Zaveski on the 19th; Kim Perry on March 21; Allison Latham and Owen Klipstein on the 23rd; Sarah Perry on March 24; and Savannah Alexander on the 25th.

A special shout-out to my wonderful in-laws Carol and Jim Koslosky as they celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary March 19.

The Southold Mothers’ Club will hold its annual Bagels with the Bunny breakfast and egg hunt Saturday, March 21, at the town rec center. Adults: $5; children 2 and over $3; under 2’s are free. Enjoy breakfast, crafts, raffles, an egg hunt and photos with the Easter Bunny.

Southold High School’s Drama Club presents “The Addams Family,” directed by Jessica Ellwood and Casey Rooney, with musical direction by Kelli Baumann, choreography by Anita Boyer and pit orchestra direction by Audrey Grathwohl. Performances are Thursday, March 19, through Saturday, March 21, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 22, at 2 p.m. in the district auditorium. Tickets — $12 for adults, $8 for students and seniors — are on sale now at Southold Free Library. For tickets at the door, please arrive 20 to 30 minutes early. Call 765-5081 for more information.

The SHS junior class is sponsoring a pre-performance dinner of baked ziti, bread, salad and dessert at 5 p.m. Friday, March 20. In keeping with “The Addams Family” theme, the cafeteria will be transformed into a dark and peculiar scene, junior class volunteers dressed the part will take patrons’ orders, and cast members will be on hand to mingle with guests. The cost is $6 per person and proceeds will help fund the 2015 prom.

A ‘Souper Bowls’ fundraiser to support the Southold and Greenport PTAs and school gardens will be held Sunday, March 29, from noon to 3 p.m. in the Southold Elementary School cafeteria. Bring an empty bowl and spoon and enjoy soups from local restaurants such as Founders Tavern, North Fork Table & Inn, and Noah’s. Refill as often as you like. Admission at the door is $10 for adults, $5 for students. There will also be arts and crafts, live music and a chinese auction. Get out and see your neighbors; spring has sprung!

I hope you take time to enjoy our town. It has so much to offer; all we need to do is seek it out. Have a wonderful two weeks. My next deadline is Saturday, March 21, no later than noon, please.
