Health Beat: Father, son to donate $20K to ELIH

• Peconic Bay Medical Center and the Long Island Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will present an Insulin Pump Therapy Seminar Monday, March 23, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the hospital’s second-floor Conference Room A. This hands-on seminar on the T1D Series is appropriate for those using or just considering such therapy. RSVP by March 20 to [email protected] or 631-768-3389.

• As part of its 2015 Fitness Challenge, Eastern Long Island Hospital will hold a Grateful Gathering to accept a $20,000 donation from Mark Miller of Southold and his son Evan. The father and son pledged a dollar to ELIH for each foot of their January climb of Ecuador’s highest peaks. During the event, set for Friday, April 17, 5-7 p.m., at Sparkling Pointe in Southold, Paul Connor and Anthony Mitarotondo will also give a presentation on their recent climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa.

• The annual Eastern Long Island Golf Classic, this year honoring the late John Romanelli, will take place Wednesday, May 13, not May 15 as previously announced. There will be two tee times, 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and the cost for individual golfers is $295. For additional details, visit ELIH.org/Golf or call 477-5164.

• The prize for this year’s ELIH Auxiliary Car Raffle has been increased by 50 percent. The winner can now choose $15,000 cash or a 2015 Dodge Dart AWD sedan courtesy of Mullen Motors.
