Southold police ticket 24 for distracted driving

Southold police issued 24 summonses for distracted driving during a six-day campaign that kicked off April 10 and wrapped up Wednesday.

The campaign came as part of a nationwide observance of Distracted Driving Month.

Throughout the recent campaign, officers were assigned to distracted driving details throughout Southold Town.

“The focus of this initiative was to bring attention to the problem of distracted driving and thereby reduce the number of personal injury and property damage accidents caused by distracted driving,” reads a Southold Town police press release.

Police also issued 13 summonses for other violation, and arrested one person for DWI.
