Greenport holds signup for pre-K and kindergarten

Greenport Elementary School will hold pre-K and kindergarten registration between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. May 19, 20 and 21. Children must turn 4 on or before Sept. 1, 2015, to enter pre-K in the fall and must turn 5 on or before Sept. 1 to enter kindergarten.

Call the registrar’s office at 477-1950, ext. 1222, to make an appointment. Registration packets may be obtained online at gufsd.org or at the elementary office. Children do not need to be present at registration.

Children currently attending pre-K do not need to be registered for kindergarten.

A separate screening, with children in attendance, will take place June 22, 23 and 24. Screening times will be scheduled at registration.

The school district wishes to identify resident children between ages 3 and 5 who, because of a disability, may need special education services now or when they enter school. Disabilities may include slow speech/language development, emotional difficulties, slow learning, hearing or vision problems or other difficulties. Plans can be made for their instructional needs once they enter school.

If a resident’s child has been identified as having a disability or if anyone knows of such a child in the community, call 477-1950, ext. 1211, to request information. All information will remain confidential.
