Maybe you’ve noticed some changes to our website in recent weeks. But since the changes haven’t included a total revamping of the website, we figured we’d bring them to your attention since in the end, we’re making the changes to improve the user experience both for our readers and advertisers.

On our navigation bar — which in the past included just the news categories such as “government,” “police,” “education” — we now have direct links to our upgraded business directory listings and calendar that link to our sister website, northforker.com.

We’ve also created a whole new category of business listings, which can be found at the top of the website, called “Find a Pro.” This is an option for local businesses that run the gamut from pool service companies to roofers to lawyers.

But beyond that, the entire layout of the directory listings themselves are new. In effect, they’re almost mini-websites for local businesses, which can buy the listing (run by Times/Review or the business owner) to get more visibility through our websites as well as search engines. The listings go beyond the traditional online business listing by including photos, pulling in businesses’ Facebook feeds, and allowing you to contact the business directly.

“The new products offer an affordable way to have a digital presence, attached to websites with extremely high traffic,” said Sonja Reinholt Derr, Times Review Media Group’s director of sales and advertising. “Both of these products are beautifully designed while being SEO friendly.”

In 2015, the Times Review websites have combined to average around 1 million page views per month.
