WATCH: Helen Mirren announces Teeny Award winners

Local teen actors and actresses were in for a special treat at Sunday’s Teeny Awards at Center Moriches High School. Not only did the area’s bright young stars get recognized for their hard work on the stage at the annual awards ceremony, but a couple of big names made a virtual drop-in to announce some of the awards firsthand.

Rob Hinderliter, a former two-time Teeny nominee and Broadway producer who was at the Tony Awards on Sunday night, partnered with Teeny Award winner Christian Nilsson to make a 9-minute video presenting both the Lead Male in a Play, and the Lead Female in a Musical.

In addition to the two local alums — Mr. Christian now works as a producer at HuffPost Live — Dame Helen Mirren announced one of the awards with Mr. Hunderliter. The Tony and Academy Award-winner announced the tie for Lead Female in a Musical, which went to Mackenzie Engeldrum as Inga in “Young Frankenstein” at Hampton Bays and Isabella Le Boeuf as Tracy Turnblad in “Hairspray” at Longwood.
