Blog Recap: Mattituck wins 7-2 to advance to state finals

Update: Read the game recap of Mattituck’s 7-2 win here.

The Mattituck baseball team is two wins away from its first-ever state championship.

The Tuckers are competing in the state final four today for just the first time in 32 years.

If they’re going to make the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class B title game they’ll need to beat Ogdensburg Free Academy in a 10 a.m. semifinal.

The Blue Devils (18-5) are just two years removed from their most recent state final four appearance, but they have also never won it all.

The Tuckers enter Saturday morning’s game with a 25-1 record.

The winner advances to the championship game at 4 p.m. against the winner of a 1 p.m. contest between Levonia (24-1) and Westhill (14-4).

The Suffolk Times will report live from the Mattituck game with play-by-play from SUNY Broome CC in Binghamton beginning at 10 a.m.
