Mattituck News: Yard sale to benefit Ben Pileski

07/25/2015 5:55 AM |

I’ve often marveled at how our community comes together in the best and worst of times. This week our town sends out thoughts and prayers to the families of the four young women who lost their lives in the horrific accident in Cutchogue. Our thoughts also go out to the police and fire department members who answered the call. Assisting with such a tragedy is difficult and often has lasting effects on those who help at the scene. May God bless everyone involved.

Kait’s Angels is planning a yard sale to help Ben Pileski and his family as he continues his recovery from an accident in Montauk. It will take place Aug. 15 at the Doorhy residence at 1125 Ole Jule Lane in Mattituck. Volunteers are needed to set up, sell items and break down the sale. A bake sale is also planned and anyone wishing to donate baked goods or items for sale can drop them off between 3 and 7 p.m. Aug. 14. No early dropoffs, please. To volunteer or get more information, visit kaitsangels.org.

Happy anniversary wishes go out this past month to Erin and Lou Nardilillo and Jason and Christina Wesnofske. Both of these happy couples now have daughters to help them celebrate. Times sure flies!

Reminder: The MHS Class of 1975 will celebrate its 40th class reunion at Strong’s Water Club on Aug. 8. For details, contact Donna Wilsberg at [email protected] or Jeff Strong at [email protected].

Belated birthday wishes go out to Ryan Buccholz, who turned 16 on July 14.

A special 2nd birthday wish goes out this week to Kevin James Maida, who blows out his candles Aug. 1.

Birthday wishes also go out to Sherry Steele, Dick Harned, Kaylyn O’Brien, Karen Diffley, Ann Petruaskas, Tyler Cande, Christopher Busch and Tommy MacDonald.

If you missed Dave Smith and his ensemble at Macari Vineyards last month, fret not. The East End Jazz Ensemble will perform there again July 31 and Aug. 28 starting at 5 p.m. Last time, MHS alums, friends, teachers and community members gathered together to enjoy the music, wine and beautiful setting. Why not add it to your calendar of summer events?

As August approaches, so does the wedding day of Christopher Papadopoulos and Elina Abramchayeva. May God’s blessing, and the sun, shine bright as the two exchange their vows at Water’s Edge in Long Island City and may this be the beginning of a beautiful life together. Elina is the daughter of Victoria Kazakova. Christopher’s parents are Dimitri and Alexandra Papadopoulos.
