Southold News: School supply list available for grades 7-12

Summer vacation is half over! Are you singing the praises of going back to school or racing to do all your summer plans?

If you’re thinking about school, the supply lists for grades 7-12 are on the junior/senior high website under the information tab.

In birthday news, we have Melanie Grigonis, July 30; Jonathan Baumann, July 31; Judi Fouchet, Aug. 1; James MacArthur, Aug. 5; Kate Panetta, Aug. 7; and Caroline MacArthur and Kelly Hilary, Aug. 11. Happy birthday one and all!

Celebrating anniversaries are Jim Koslosky and me on Aug. 6 and Brian and Deanna Walker on Aug, 7. Happy anniversary to all!

Happy golden wedding anniversary to Betty and Skip Goldsmith July 31. They’re celebrating during a special Rangers’ Legends cruise to Bermuda arranged by their children, Donna, Craig and Glenn.

The town animal shelter’s 2016 calendar is in the works and the shelter is looking for businesses to sponsor each month. The sponsor fee is $225. To have your logo displayed all month, call 765-1811, ext. 1, or email [email protected].

St. Patrick R.C. Church will host its fifth annual chicken barbecue this Sunday, Aug. 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $28 and may be purchased by calling the Rectory at 765-3442.

The Southold Mothers’ Club will host its 15th annual summer auction next Thursday, Aug. 6, at 7 p.m. at Macari Vineyards. $10 admission includes light fare, a DJ, door prize, chinese auction and 50/50 raffles. Cash wine bar available.

A CAST food drive is set for Saturday, Aug. 8, as follows: Greenport IGA: 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; Southold IGA: 9:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m.; King Kullen, Cutchogue: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; and Waldbaum’s, Mattituck: 10:15 a.m.-2:15 p.m. Nonperishable food items, cash and gift cards will be accepted. The same donations can be dropped off at the CAST office in Greenport. For more information, call 477-1717.

Southold Historical Society’s “North Fork Annual” juried art exhibition will open Friday, Aug. 21, with a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Reichert Family Center’s Cosden-Price Gallery on Main Road. Painters and sculptors from all over the East End were invited to participate and, at the reception, one will win a $500 purchase prize for the exhibit’s best artwork. The art on display will be for sale for the duration of the show, which runs Thursdays-Sundays, from 1-4 p.m., through Sept. 5. For more information, call 765-5500.
