Less than a month after Eastern Long Island Hospital announced its partnering with Stony Brook University Hospital, representatives from both will hold a public forum Tuesday night at Peconic Landing in Greenport.

Guest speakers include ELIH president and CEO Paul Connor, ELIH board chairman Thomas Murray and Dr. Reuven Pasternak of SBUH.

Both hospitals want to ensure the community is aware of the change and the benefits it could bring, said Eileen Solomon, ELIH spokesperson.

“Some patients will be able to have some treatments here instead of going to Stony Brook,” she said. “What Stony Brook’s going to do is make the care that people are getting here even more robust.”

Ms. Solomon said forum organizers specifically chose Peconic Landing because many residents there are seniors who would benefit from more local healthcare options.

“We have that high level of seniors on the North Fork and they want to have their relatives local [when in the hospital],” she said.

Tuesday’s forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Peconic Landing’s community center.
