Six trucks respond to Mattituck house fire

Fire

Firefighters from Mattituck and Cutchogue Fire Departments extinguished a house fire on Marratooka Lane last night in “textbook” fashion, Mattituck Chief Steve Libretto said.

The fire sparked shortly before 10 p.m., though the cause remains unclear at the time. Nobody was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

“They did a very, very good aggressive stop to keep it from going any further,” said Mr. Libretto, adding that First Assistant Chief Eric Haas was first on the scene. “It was a textbook good job.”

According to the chief, the fire took about 10 to 15 minutes to knock down. Six trucks in total responded to the scene.

Jamesport Fire Department was on call during the incident.
