Cops: Man was driving drunk while tailgating in Southold

Southold police arrested a Bay Shore man early Sunday when he was allegedly caught driving drunk on Route 48 in Southold.

Jason Abrams, 28, was also found to be carrying marijuana at the time of his arrest, according to a news release.

Police say Mr. Abrams was heading west on Route 48 about 3:25 a.m. when he was seen failing to stay in his lane and tailgating a car in front of him. A police officer pulled over Mr. Abrams, who failed field sobriety tests, according to the release.

He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana, a violation, police said.
