Kerry Wayne Klipp, 63, of Orrtanna, Pa. passed away at home Sept. 30, surrounded by friends and family after battling pancreatic cancer.

He was born March 15, 1952, in Greenport to Alton Klipp and Joyce Klipp. His sister Lauren Whitecavage predeceased him. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 38 years, Cindy Klipp. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his stepson, Christian Shollenberger of Winsted, Conn. stepdaughter, Jesse Mains (Eric) of Gettysburg, Pa. and grandchildren Madeline, Jacob and Tyler, and daughter Erin (Klipp) Phelps (John) and grandchildren Jack and Sam; sisters Christie Hallock of Greenport and Leanne Kindschi of St. Louis, Mo.

Kerry graduated from Greenport High School in 1970. He was a police officer with the Suffolk County Police Department in the early 1980s until he and his family moved to Gettysburg and he joined the Gettysburg College Department of Public Safety. In later years, he was a produce buyer for Twin Springs Fruit Farm.

Kerry began drumming at age 5 and played in many bands over his more than 50-year musical career. A talented and well-respected drummer, Kerry most recently was a member of the musical trio, Hold the Wheel. An avid outdoorsman, Kerry enjoyed supporting national and state parks through boating, fishing, birding and camping with his friends and family until he was no longer able. Kerry had a propensity for storytelling and a quick wit, which are already sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, Kerry asked that his friends and family support live, local music. With a presence larger than life, his love of music and appreciation for local players will endure through all who loved him.

His family will host a celebration of life gathering at his home for close friends and family. Online obituary and condolences available at monahanfuneralhome.com.
