NJROTC finishes tops at SUNY Maritime invitational meet
The Southold-Mattituck-Greenport Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps put together a “dominating victory” at SUNY Maritime’s 15th annual JROTC All Service Invitational Saturday, scooping up first place overall out of the eight schools competiting.
Senior Naval Science Instructor Major Bill Grigonis said in an email the cadets were “amazing,” also winning the Commander’s Cup.
Here are all the awards the team of cadets won:
1st place – Inspection team – Commander Andeana Mineo
1st place – Physical fitness challenge – Commander Frank Imbriano
1st place – Individual drill routine – Sam Basel (1 out of 90)
1st place – Color guard – Commander Jaime Gaffga
2nd place – Unarmed squad – Commander Samantha Fine
2nd place – Armed exhibition – Commander Justin Kirchberger
2nd place – Individual drill routine – Tom Olsen (2 out of 90)
2nd place – Armed platoon – Commander Ty Bugdin
2nd place – Armed squad – Cmmander Chris Dolce
2nd place – 2 Cadet Trick – Owen Klipstein and Justin Kirchberger
3rd place – Unarmed platoon – Commander Skyler Grathwohl
