It snowed! Yes, it did! I felt like Eeyore leaving work on Sunday.
There were these white fluffy things falling from the sky, but only over my head. My son told me I was losing it until other friends reported seeing it too. Thank you, Facebook, for proving my “sanity” to my son. Woo-hoo! I love snow.

Southold Rotary Club’s annual scallop dinner takes place Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Soundview from noon to 8 p.m. Tickets are available from any Rotarian or at the door for $25 (gratuity not included). Takeout is also available. If you’re not a seafood lover, you may choose chicken instead.
Southold Historical Society is excited to announce its first-ever Pumpkin Patch for Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31. Everyone is invited to drop off their carved jack-o’-lanterns at the museum complex on Main Road between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Volunteers will be on hand to help position them prominently on the front lawn and light them with LED battery-operated candles so everyone in town can see them Halloween night! This will be a sight you won’t want to miss. Treats will be available for trick-or-treaters in costume and hot cider for the adults. The event is free, but the society always welcomes donations and new memberships.
Preserving Southold’s history is a serious undertaking. The Old Burial Grounds at First Presbyterian Church is the oldest cemetery in New York State. Preserving all those centuries of headstones is expensive. To raise funds for this effort, world-renowned pianist Paolo Bartolani will give a concert at the church Sunday, Nov. 1, that starts with an informal gathering for hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants at 3 p.m., followed by the concert at 4 p.m. Local student musicians including Aidan Walker, Julia Daddona, Kimiko Fujita and Julia Schade will participate. Heather Cusack of Southold will star as Winnie in the Riverhead Faculty and Community Theatre production of “42nd Street.” Performances will take place at Riverhead High School at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, Nov. 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 8 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sundays, Nov. 8 and 15.
