Cops: Woman caught with drugs in Southold Town Hall parking lot

A Southold woman who got into an “altercation” with another person in Greenport Friday afternoon was caught with drugs in the Town Hall parking lot soon after, police said.

According to a police report, 59-year-old Dawn Cone was stopped in the parking lot at Southold Town Hall on Main Road about 12:25 p.m. in connection with a disturbance.

A police officer who responded to the call said the altercation was between Ms. Cone and another person in Greenport and had nothing to do with Town Hall itself.

While investigating, police found Ms. Cone was in possession of crack cocaine. She was arrested and charged with misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

She was processed at police headquarters and released on bail with a future date in town court.

Ms. Cone had previously been charged in another Greenport incident earlier this year. In July, she allegedly drove drunk and crashed into a home on Main Road, then fought with officers who tried to arrest her, Southold Town police said.

She was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and harassment, a violation, according to police. The status of that court case wasn’t immediately available as of Friday evening.
