An East Hampton woman who fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a parked car in Greenport Tuesday evening is looking for her cat, which ran away after the collision, Southold Town police said.

The 72-year-old woman was driving a 2007 Saab south on First Street when she fell asleep and hit a parked car about 5:52 p.m., according to a news release. Greenport Fire Department ambulance volunteers took the woman to Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment, police said.

The woman’s 10-year-old gray female cat, named Alice, escaped from the car after the crash and ran east on Main Street, according to a police news alert. Police have asked anyone who finds the woman’s cat to call police at 765-2600.
