A phrase I hear often in this job is “that looks like a Suffolk Times cover.” There’s a certain feel of the North Fork that many of our readers expect us to capture. There’s a sense of place here that really lends itself to great photography. This Katharine Schroeder photograph of Karl Speilmann working to restore a century-old windmill in Southold certainly captures the flavor of the community and its local newspaper.
