Police: Woman stole her Cutchogue co-workers’ identities

A Shirley woman was arrested on Wednesday after police said she allegedly used her co-workers’ identities to open up auto insurance policies “and other accounts” using their information.

Thirty nine-year-old Lakeida Walker Dent was charged with two counts of first-degree identity theft and fifth-degree insurance fraud.

Her arrest came after an investigation between Southold Police and the Suffolk County Police Department’s Identity Theft Unit. Authorities said the last incident occurred in June 2015.

According to police, all of the victims worked in the same Cutchogue office as Ms. Walker Dent, who had previously been convicted of identity theft.

Additional charges are likely, police said, as the investigation is ongoing.

She is being held overnight for an arraignment tomorrow.
