The latest trend on Facebook is a “Nature Challenge” for which you post photos from wherever you live. I’ve always known it, but seeing these pictures sure makes me appreciate the North Fork. What a beautiful area!
Parents of elementary school students had much to brag about when the Parrish Art Museum’s 2016 Student Exhibit premiered Saturday. Artwork from high school students will be featured at the Water Mill museum this Saturday, Feb. 13, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Mrs. Baglivi and Ms. Sweeney couldn’t be prouder of their students’ hard work! The exhibit will be open to the public through Feb. 28.
My sincerest sympathies go out to Hanna, Sophia and Shannon Land, as well as Karen and Bill Rich and Joanna Land Rallis, on the passing of Bruce Land. He was taken from us much too soon. Fly high, Bruce.
Don’t forget the fundraiser for Danielle Harrison-Meraz at the Third Street firehouse in Greenport on Sunday, Feb. 21, from 1- 6 p.m. In addition to light fare and drink, there will be a chinese auction (with absolutely awesome prizes) and a 50/50. All proceeds will help Danielle defray expenses as she battles cancer.
Another fundraiser — for the Greenport American Legion — will take place Feb. 22 and 23 at Skipper’s. Enjoy a choice of Yankee pot roast, chicken parmesan or stuffed flounder with shrimp sauce, plus salad, bread and butter, dessert and coffee. Peconic Landing will host its annual Have-a-Heart dinner to benefit CAST’s winter emergency fund on Friday, Feb. 26, with seatings at 5 and 7 p.m. Reservations are a must; call 631-477-1717. The meal includes caesar salad, lasagna/vegetarian, garlic bread, coffee and dessert. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.
A presentation on “Heroin and Prescription Drugs: What Parents Need to Know” will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, March 28, at Mattituck High School, sponsored by the Southold Town and Suffolk County police departments.
