Cops: Altercation on Front Street leads to two arrests

A Greenport man who was involved in an altercation on Front Street early Saturday morning refused to cooperate with police and was charged with resisting arrest, Southold Town Police said. Another woman was arrested as well after she tried to prevent police from making the arrest.

Antoine Hunter, 25, was allegedly intoxicated, cursing and screaming in the roadway and as police tried to clear multiple people out of the street, Mr. Hunter punched another person with a closed fist in the face, police said. Mr. Hunter refused to cooperate as an officer attempted to arrest him. He flared his arms in an attempt to prevent the officer from making the arrest, police said.

As police attempted to arrest Mr. Hunter, a woman who was also allegedly intoxicated and yelling obscenities placed her body between the officer and Mr. Hunter. She was also pushing the officer’s hands away in an attempt to prevent the arrest, police said.

Mr. Hunter was still arrested and charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, police said. The woman, Brianna Parrish, 23, of Greenport was also charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

The incident took place at about 1:17 a.m.

Both suspects were both transported to police headquarters and held for processing.

Mr. Hunter was also arrested in 2014 in a similar incident on Front Street that involved as many as 25 people.
