Easter egg hunt

The Mattituck Chamber of Commerce and the Mattituck Park District held their annual Easter egg hunt at Veterans Memorial Park in Mattituck Sunday.

As the start was announced, hundreds of children raced across the field to gather as many eggs as possible, hoping to find one that held a special prize.

Five lucky children won four brand new bicycles donated by Greg Williams of Country Time Cycles in Mattituck (twins Matthew and Joshua Messina will share one). Other children won gift certificates donated by local businesses or small trinkets tucked inside the eggs.

Upon discovering that she’d won a bicycle, five-year-old Hannah Boyd immediately made up her mind to donate it to Community Action of Southold Town (CAST) because, as she said, “I already have a bike and want to give this to someone who doesn’t.”
